Punjabis like everywhere else are Punjabis at heart, whether in snow-clad Canadian cities or Farm lands of Central-North California, MidWest or Urban Centers of Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, Texas or New Jersey and NY.

Punjabis start fighting (!) like everywhere else as soon as they get up in the morning, like everywhere else in India, Pakistan or elsewhere. Fighting with routine, with spouse, with employees, with friends and foes.  So the fight never stops. Does it?
What do the Punjabis do when they stop fighting and have some free time? A mystery?

Our survey shows that Most Punjabis are really hardworking and they spend most of their creative time in fighting with their work.
Punjabis of India and Pakistan do not fight that badly as they do on the sub-continent.
In reality, they love each other and usually intermingle more often. Some people shun anyone not of their sect or religion yet most educated people do not care for someone's belief.

On surface many of them are engaged in doing exactly what they will be doing in India and Pakistan but in reality they are bit more uplifted and possibly a bit more tolerant.
Ignorants remain and they will remain so and they will keep spilling their zahil khyalat and jahalat wherever they are; however there is hardly anyone lending ear to this minority. (What a relief!!)
Let us now stop criticizing - a very typical Punjabi aadat and talk some real nice things. Nice things start with foods!! Whatever you believe you definitely eat as per our last information. Hope things do not change in next hours or so.

So Punjabis buy food from same grocery stores, go to same institutions, live in same neighborhoods.
Speaking of food, Punjabi sweets, snacks and foods are very popular among all South Asians.
Punjabis and non-Punjabi South Asians atleast, do not discriminate between a Pakistani or Indian or Sikh or Hindu Jalebi or Pathure Chholle.


Punjabi Cultural Activities

Apparently there are very few occasions except the religious ones where you can meet other Punjabis. There are some tiny associations here and there but not popular yet. There is a literary association called Apna in Washington DC area. There are some TV programs in Canada and few Radio stations. Apna Sangeet is a very popular Radio broadcast almost 24 hours giving interesting programs in Punjabi, with listeners now even out of Canada as they broadcast via Internet. LIFE IN AMERICAS

Punjabi people have worked hard, educated their children and they have integrated quite successfully in the society, yet they always feel some vacuum in their hearts.
The Gurudwaras, Temples and Mosques are few places where some people meet but there is no common place to meet Punjabis.

Punjabi Network  proposes to organize a local chapter in every major area so that we can meet and talk about our lives and culture.
